Q. | What is the format of your average day at a hill or sprint? |
A. | Mechanical Scrutiny starts around 8a.m., Document Scrutiny/Sign on starts shortly after. Then you have drivers briefing. Weather permitting, you usually get one practice run (untimed) and a minimum of three timed runs. You only need to get scrutiny once per weekend and you only have to sign on once per weekend. Both of which may be available on the Friday evening depending on the club running the event. |
Q. | How does the timing work? |
A. | There is a timing beam at the start and finish lines. When you break the beam at the start line, the clock starts – when you break the beam at the finish it stops. You don’t get a time for your practice run – as it is only to allow you to get familiar with the course, surface and conditions. |
Q. | Can I use my Speed licence to enter circuit races? |
A. | In short, no. But when you have enough experience, you can apply for an inter-category licence upgrade.As per the Motorsport Ireland Licence renewal form:
